We meet at 9:30 am for coffee and conversation.Please join us for conversation\, raffle\, guest speaker and club business. \nThe speaker for February is Elizabeth Fogarty – Director of Visit Grand Junction \nElizabeth Fogarty – Director Visit Grand Junction \nElizabeth Fogarty comes to Grand Junction after more than three years as the president and CEO of Visit Estes Park. She will start in her new post March 5 and replaces retiring director Debbie Kovalik\, who led Visit Grand Junction since its inception in 1990. \nFogarty was selected out of 116 applicants during a nationwide search. \nFogarty previously served as president and chief executive officer of Visit Estes Park\, an organization that won the 2016 Governor’s Award for best marketing campaign in Colorado. Fogarty brings to her latest duties experience in business development\, consulting and marketing in the travel and hospitality industries. In addition\, she’s been active in destination management organizations in Colorado and internationally. \nVisit Grand Junction has a staff of nine\, a budget of $2 million and serves as the tourism and destination marketing organization for the area.

DESCRIPTION:Monthly meeting and coffee\, held the second Wednesday of each month at the Masonic Lodge/Grand Valley Event Center\, 2400 Consistory Ct. We meet at 9:30 am for coffee and conversation. The monthly meeting\, held from 10 to 11 a.m.\, includes club and community updates\, and typically a guest speaker from a local non-profit or other organization. No reservations are necessary. \nThe speaker for March is Charles Latshaw who is the music director for the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra. \n\nCharles Latshaw was named the new music director of the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra in April 2016. He previously served as the director of the Kent/Blossom Music Festival and the Kent State University Orchestras\, artistic director and conductor of the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra in Indiana. Latshaw has also held conducting positions with the Indianapolis Symphony\, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic\, Washington Sinfonietta\, and Ars Nova Chamber Orchestra. He was selected by members of the Vienna Philharmonic as the Herbert von Karajan conducting fellow in 2007. \n\n\nLatshaw is firmly dedicated to bringing orchestral music to new audiences\, especially young people. He has taught band\, choir\, general music\, and musical theater to students of all ages. An enthusiastic advocate of new music\, Latshaw enjoys programming accessible and exciting contemporary works\, often of his own commission. He has premiered more than thirty new works for ensembles ranging from chamber groups to youth orchestras to full symphonies. \n\n\nLatshaw’s performances are not limited to the podium. He has held the position of principal trumpet in orchestras in Ohio\, New Hampshire\, and Massachusetts. He has performed with jazz bands as a trumpet player\, vocalist\, and band leader. He has appeared in acting and singing roles with the Palace Professional Theater of Manchester and the New Hampshire State Opera. Performance tours have brought him to Germany\, Austria\, and the Czech Republic\, as well as across the United States.

Meetings are held at the Masonic Lodge/Grand Valley Event Center\, 2400 Consistory Ct. \nThe speaker for February is Libby Collins who is the Regional Program Manager for Colorado West Land Trust. \n  \nAs a project manager at Colorado West Land Trust\, Libby works to preserve landscapes and develop trail-based recreation along the Monument Corridor and around the six-county service area. Through partnerships with local organizations and government\, Libby fundraises\, coordinates public processes and land acquisition that support trail-based recreation and community stewardship of public and private lands. She received her M.A. from the Joseph Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver where she studied international economic development with a focus on rural communities.

No reservations are necessary. \nSpeaker for January is Mike Bennett – Grand Junction City Manager. \n \nHe became Grand Junction’s City Manager on December 1\, 2024\, bringing with him nearly two decades of leadership experience in local government. Before joining Grand Junction\, Mike served as the City Manager of Fruita\, Colorado\, for nearly ten years\, where he helped guide strong community growth and investment. Earlier in his career\, he worked in Hickory\, North Carolina\, serving in multiple leadership roles that gave him a broad perspective on city operations\, from transit to administration. In addition to his municipal leadership\, Mike has also shared his experience with future leaders as an Adjunct Professor of Public Administration at Colorado Mesa University. \n  \n  \nMike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from Utah State University and a Master of Public Administration from Brigham Young University. He is a credentialed manager through the International City/County Management Association and serves on the board of the Colorado City/County Management Association. His peers recognized him as Colorado’s City Manager of the Year\, a reflection of his commitment to public service and community leadership. \nBeyond his professional work\, Mike is a husband and father of three who loves spending time outdoors with his family\, fly-fishing\, mountain biking\, and hiking. He believes in leading with purpose\, building strong community connections\, and finding innovative ways to solve problems. Residents will find in Mike not only a city manager dedicated to good governance and continuous improvement\, but also someone who genuinely values people\, community\, and the future of Grand Junction.
