SUMMARY:GJNC Monthly Meeting & Coffee
DESCRIPTION:Monthly meeting and coffee\, held the second Wednesday of each month at the Masonic Lodge/Grand Valley Event Center\, 2400 Consistory Ct. We meet at 9:30 am for coffee and conversation. The monthly meeting\, held from 10 to 11 a.m.\, includes club and community updates\, and typically a guest speaker from a local non-profit or other organization. No reservations are necessary. \nSpeaker for January is Mike Bennett – Grand Junction City Manager. \n \nHe became Grand Junction’s City Manager on December 1\, 2024\, bringing with him nearly two decades of leadership experience in local government. Before joining Grand Junction\, Mike served as the City Manager of Fruita\, Colorado\, for nearly ten years\, where he helped guide strong community growth and investment. Earlier in his career\, he worked in Hickory\, North Carolina\, serving in multiple leadership roles that gave him a broad perspective on city operations\, from transit to administration. In addition to his municipal leadership\, Mike has also shared his experience with future leaders as an Adjunct Professor of Public Administration at Colorado Mesa University. \n  \n  \nMike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from Utah State University and a Master of Public Administration from Brigham Young University. He is a credentialed manager through the International City/County Management Association and serves on the board of the Colorado City/County Management Association. His peers recognized him as Colorado’s City Manager of the Year\, a reflection of his commitment to public service and community leadership. \nBeyond his professional work\, Mike is a husband and father of three who loves spending time outdoors with his family\, fly-fishing\, mountain biking\, and hiking. He believes in leading with purpose\, building strong community connections\, and finding innovative ways to solve problems. Residents will find in Mike not only a city manager dedicated to good governance and continuous improvement\, but also someone who genuinely values people\, community\, and the future of Grand Junction.

DESCRIPTION:Mahjong before holiday lunch \nLocation : SpyGlass Club House\,  across from 2693 Lookout Lane 80503\n( Hwy 50 toward Delta\, Turn on 27 Rd\,   Right on Spyglass Drive ; wind to top of hill. At stop sign turn Left onto Lookout Lane. Follow until the club house is on the left. Park on street or lot (make sure to leave one spot open for employees) \nThe club house is open to members of SpyGlass subdivision at all times and meetings may be running concurrently. We are responsible for table setup\, breakdown and general cleanliness of area during usage. Bring your own water bottles\, coffee etc and take them as you leave. The tables are best with our wonderful pads.

SUMMARY:Hiking
DESCRIPTION:Kindred Reserve is a city park located next to Tiara Rado Golf Course.  It is fairly new.  In the past\, everyone seemed delighted in the easy\, level hike.  We will see views of the majestic Colorado National Monument\, a stream\, a woodland\, and a peaceful lake. It is about 2 miles\, accounting for some backtracking\, about 1 hour 30 minutes.\n\nIn order to allow for daytime warmup\, and following suggestions from the survey\, we will meet Thursday at 1000 AM\, at the specially marked parking lot at 2064 S. Broadway.  The lot is just West of the driving range parking lot.  To get there go South on Redlands Parkway (Think 24 Road) until it turns into South Broadway.\n\nWeather will be sunny with temperatures in the 40’s .  I would suggest afterwards we dine at the golf course at  the restaurant called Clubhouse 25.  They have lunches for around $10.
