SUMMARY:Hiking
DESCRIPTION:–Domiguez Canyon.  This beautiful canyon in the National Conservation Area\, supported by the group\, Colorado Canyons Association\, is one of Newcomers best hikes.  It is located near Whitewater off of Bridgeport Road.   (Bridgeport is a former bustling waterport on the Gunnison River.)  We will hike along the Gunnison River to access the canyon. We frequently see big-horned sheep racing up the canyon.  We will not hike the whole canyon but it will be a longer out-and-back hike\, about 2.5 hours with about 200 feet elevation increase.  We will hike the canyon to the petroglyphs and then return.  Bring extra water and a snack. Weather will be sunny\, with temperatures in the 60’s to mid 70’s.  Don’t forget walking sticks\, unless you never use them.\n\n   We will meet in a different area\, City Market on Orchard Mesa\, off HWY 50.  Meet in the SW  corner\, on Thursday\, at 0845.  We will carpool to the trailhead.\n\n   Afterwards\, those that wish will eat at the Dragon Treasure in Orchard Mesa (They  have a buffet that is open until 3). unless you prefer Burger King–“Home of the Whopper”.

DESCRIPTION:Mahjong before holiday lunch \nLocation : SpyGlass Club House\,  across from 2693 Lookout Lane 80503\n( Hwy 50 toward Delta\, Turn on 27 Rd\,   Right on Spyglass Drive ; wind to top of hill. At stop sign turn Left onto Lookout Lane. Follow until the club house is on the left. Park on street or lot (make sure to leave one spot open for employees) \nThe club house is open to members of SpyGlass subdivision at all times and meetings may be running concurrently. We are responsible for table setup\, breakdown and general cleanliness of area during usage. Bring your own water bottles\, coffee etc and take them as you leave. The tables are best with our wonderful pads.

SUMMARY:Wine Tasting
DESCRIPTION:Our next wine tasting is on Thursday March 26th from 4-6pm at the Art Center. Cost will remain $25.00. Wines from Portugal will be sampled and can be ordered for purchase from Fisher’s Liquor Barn.  Payment deadline is March 19th and no reservations will be accepted after that.  Please send your check for $25/person (made out to Newcomers Club of Grand Junction) to Ken Seitz and be sure it arrives by the deadline.  Any questions\, please contact Lisa at lisa.seitz623@gmail.com or at 303-263-4391. Please keep in mind that the deadline for the event is always 1 week prior to the tasting and we must have received your check by that time in order for you attend.
