ARMCHAIR TRAVELERS
Armchair Travelers is set to
resume programs with a tentative date of
Wednesday, September
15, at 7:30 PM. at Mesa State College in the Saunders
Recreation Center (the same room we met in for last year's
programs). I will confirm the date as soon as our Mesa State
contact, Chad Thatcher, arrives back at the college and will
announce it at our September 8 Newcomers' meeting. Please call

BOOK CLUB –
GRAND JUNCTION
The GJ book club meets the
2nd Tuesday
of the month from
September through May at 10 AM. Our next meeting is
September 14
at Wild Flour coffee house, next to Garfields in the Safeway
shopping center, Redlands. Book selection is "Tinkers" by Paul
Harding, winner of this year's Pulitzer prize for fiction. For

times a year. Usually at 1:00 PM at the Dragon Treasure
restaurant in Fruita where you can dine casually while receiving
some great financial information by local experts. For

great way to meet new and existing friends.

HIKING CLUB
Meets every Thursday for hiking or
snowshoeing. Snowshoeing is done for this season and hiking is
back in full swing. John Moore announced that he is setting up
an email system to notify hikers about the locations and times
to meet for the Thursday Hiking group. If you would like to get

LADIES OUT-TO-LUNCH BUNCH
Meets on the 1st
Wednesday of each month at various restaurants. The group will
meet at the Gala Cafe at
11:30 AM on
September 1.
The Gala Cafe is located at 2650 North Avenue.. Reservations by

LUNCH AND TOUR
For all you flower lovers, on
Wednesday, September.
15, (Meet
at the Avalon Theatre at 9:45 AM) we’ll be doing a
walking tour of three sites downtown to view dahlias. Paul
Sparks, a dahlia grower, will accompany us to give information
about dahlia culture and how he’s developed certain varieties.
Following the walking tour, we’ll have lunch at the Dream Café
at 314 Main Street at 11:00 AM. You’ll be able to order from the
menu. Menus will be available at the August and September
meetings for your perusal.
The tour is limited to 20
people.

The ladies Newcomers Mah Jongg group is meeting on
